A few showers are possible overnight. Less than 1/4 inch rain expected. Lows near 70. Winds 5-15 mph with gusts to 25mph through the night.

FORECAST DISCUSSION

Tropical Storm Hanna will make landfall overnight between Myrtle Beach and Wilmington. Scattered showers are possible and breezy conditions are expected through the night. The storm could become a hurricane before reaching the coast. Since the storm is moving quickly, flooding rains are not expected even along the coast. The main threat is a 2 to 3 foot storm surge and wind damage mainly east of where the storm makes landfall. Conditions will quickly improve along the coast by noon Saturday as Hanna races northeast.

Weak high pressure moves into Georgia and South Carolina over the weekend for generally dry weather Sunday and Monday. A weak cold front moves over the area on Tuesday and could produce a few showers.

Intense Hurricane Ike could threaten the Southeast as early as Tuesday.

EXTENDED FORECAST

Saturday Morning clouds and breezy with a chance for showers until 10am, then a mix of clouds and sun a small chance for afternoon shower or thunderstorm. Highs in the low 90s. Winds NW 10-18mph.

Saturday Night Clear and mild. Overnight lows in the mid and upper 60s. Winds NW 5-10mph.

Sunday Mainly sunny and hot. Highs in the low and mid 90s. Overnight lows in the mid and upper 60s.

Monday Mainly sunny and warm. Highs in the low 90s. Overnight lows in the mid and upper 60s.

Tuesday Mainly sunny and warm with a small chance for showers. Highs in the low 90s. Overnight lows in the mid 60s.

Wednesday Mainly sunny and cooler. Highs in the mid and upper 80s. Overnight lows in the low and mid 60s.

Thursday Mainly and mild. Highs in the mid 80s. Overnight lows in the low and mid 60s.

Friday Increasing clouds with a chance for showers and thunderstorms. Highs in the mid to upper 80s. Overnight lows in the mid and upper 60s.
